“We’ve been meeting with them (the students) from the very beginning,” said Jeni Panars, project architect for Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects. “They had some great ideas. They’re really just excited to have a place to hang out because right now they don’t really have a spot. It’s for them, so we’ve been working pretty closely with them.”
The buildings, designed by TSK architects, are most similar in design but feature unique aspects to ensure each one fits in with the surroundings of the different campuses. Each will be about 25,000 square feet and encompass modern-style furniture, with unique LED interior lighting and energy efficient aspects.
The state Board of Examiners today approved a $14.4 million contract for design and construction administration for the UNLV medical school. The school’s eventual cost will be $236 million.
The school opened classes this year with 60 students.
