TRUCKEE MEADOWS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WINDOM KIMSEY, PAT PUSICH
TSK developed this prototype for Nevada’s university and community college system. Each 33,000-square-foot high tech center includes classrooms, computer labs, administrative support areas and a bookstore, all clustered around an interactive learning center, that functions as an interior courtyard for the building.
This design provides offices and classrooms with indirect daylighting from a canopied roof.
The goal of the center is to provide residents of urban, suburban and rural communities with equal access to computers for educational purposes.
Locating these facilities on high school campuses throughout Nevada allows for shared use by both high school and community college students.
This enables the state and local school districts to maximize their budgets for both capital improvements and technology initiatives.
Between 1998 and 2005, seven prototype facilities were built in Las Vegas, Henderson, Carson City, Pahrump, Elko and Reno. The Reno center was completed in 2005 and is located on the Truckee Meadows Community College Redfield Campus.
