Tate Snyder Kimsey provided programming and bridging design for the new student union. The design build portion was completed by Barnhardt/HMC and opened in 2006. The project was built on the site of the existing CSULA Student Union as a companion piece to the CSULA Auxillary Services Building, which Tate Snyder Kimsey designed in 2001.
The student union contains a theater, fitness center, meeting rooms, food court, student organization offices, café and casual gathering spaces. It is designed and oriented along a new student plaza for outdoor events such as concerts, speeches and student rally’s.
