The GSA and Federal Bankruptcy Courts selected TSK to provide design and construction services for the modernization of 10 courtrooms in the Edward R. Roybal Federal building and United States Courthouse in Los Angeles, California. The particular focus of the project is to replace antiquated audio video equipment in each courtroom with the latest technology and A/V systems for evidence-based presentations.

The scope involves the thorough and diligent survey of existing conditions to decipher incremental technology changes that have occurred over the past three decades. This project required a high degree of coordination with the Courts' IT, Building Management, and Security personnel to correctly identify and propose renovation solutions. Millwork revisions require considered approaches to minimize demolition of courtroom benches, clerk stations, witness stands, and counsel tables intended to remain. New, custom lectern designs were prepared to accommodate the new equipment and provide for an improved work surface.
