VOLUNTEERING EVENTS

7th Annual Pints 4 Paws Event

Date: Jun 10, 2023

Melanie Bailey joined her husband and his brew club as they hosted the 7th annual Pints for Paws event on June 10th. Melanie supported this event with her husband by brewing and donating four different types of beer to the event. As she poured beer for the masses, she was helping to raise money and awareness for homeless animals in need at the SPCA Shelter in Anne Arundel County.

This event raised more than $20 thousand thanks to more than 50 homebrewers, beer donations from local craft breweries and more than 30 local vendors! The SPCA of Anne Arundel County is the largest and oldest animal welfare organization in Anne Arundel County, and has been providing shelter and humane care for homeless animals in need for more than 96 years.

CanStruction Competition

Date: May 03, 2023

For those who don't know, CanStruction (AIA Northern Nevada) is a non-profit organization that provides canned food for the local food banks. All the cans are donated by participants of the competition that need to build a structure made of cans. The participants started the design a couple of months ago and they organized themselves to build the design in 12 hours.

This year we have partnered up with Job Corp and they chose Donnashello, the desert tortoise, the largest reptile in the State of Nevada. Due to the vast area and minimal food (especially pizza), in Nevada, he prefers cactus and flowers.

TSK Architects – Reno/Tahoe are thankful for all the effort the students put in to build the CanStruction today.

Bill Snyder's Relief Mission in Haiti 2010

Date: Apr 27, 2022

Former TSK President Bill Snyder, FAIA came and spoke to our Henderson office about a relief mission in 2010 to rebuild schools in Haiti following a tragic earthquake. After his presentation Bill stated, "As architects we have to keep in mind that the real client is the end user." Bill had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time in Haiti getting to know the locals, learning about their needs, and how to help. Building a safe, high performance, and sustainable learning environment was top priority for Bill and those who were also there to help.  Bill’s presentation was a great reminder that in this industry we do this work with all people in mind and the importance of giving back to communities. We are very proud of Bill for going on this trip to build some beautiful schools customized to the local needs in Haiti.
